Why the way a rug is cleaned matters

A good hand-knotted rug (made by hand, one knot at a time) in a lobby or suite can last for decades. The wrong cleaning can damage it in one visit. Hot-water machines and harsh detergents can make the colours run, shrink the base threads the rug is woven on, and leave a film that attracts dirt.

We take loose rugs away and wash them by hand. We test the colours, soak each rug and wash it with a gentle, wool-safe shampoo, push the dirt out with a rake until the water runs clear, then dry it fully. It is slower. It is also how a rug stays in good condition for years.

Over the years we have looked after rugs for hotels, embassies, places of worship and offices in Singapore.

Loose rugs only
We specialise in loose rugs: Persian, oriental, silk, wool and machine-made. We don’t clean wall-to-wall carpet, and we don’t clean on site.
A space is never left bare
We handle 20 to 30 rugs at a time and collect them in batches, so a room is never left without rugs. (We don’t lend replacement rugs.) We can also collect after hours.
Honest advice
If a rug isn’t worth restoring, we tell you when we quote, before you spend anything.

How it works

Six steps, with a written record at each one, so your team always knows where each rug is.

01

Send photos and a list

WhatsApp or email a photo of each rug with its rough size and where it is (for example "Lobby, 3 × 4 m"). A simple spreadsheet is fine.
02

Written quote and schedule

We send a quote for each rug, any repairs we suggest, and proposed pickup and return dates. Nothing starts until you approve.
03

Scheduled pickup

Our team collects at an agreed time, anywhere in Singapore, for free. We can come after hours, when your lobby or office is quiet. We label and roll each rug and tick it off against your list.
04

Condition report

Before any work begins, we photograph and check each rug: wear, stains, moths, colours that have run, the fringes and edges, and any old repairs. You get the report, so there are no surprises.
05

Hand-wash and repair

We test the colours, wash each rug by hand, rinse it with a rake until the water runs clear and dry it fully. Repairs you approve are done by hand with matching wool.
06

Return and placement

Rugs come back on the agreed date, ready to lay or in breathable wrapping, with a note of the work done and simple care advice for your housekeeping team. Between refits or before installation, we can store pieces with us and deliver straight to site on an agreed date.

Timings, pickup and paperwork
