What affects the price
Size
Washing is priced by the size of the rug. Measure its length and width without the fringe (the tassels at each end). Feet or centimetres both work.
How the rug was made
Machine-made rugs are quicker to wash. Hand-knotted rugs (made by hand, one knot at a time) take longer, because their base threads and natural colours need more care.
Material
Wool and cotton are the easiest to wash. Art silk (a man-made fibre that looks like silk) and pure silk are more delicate, so we wash them more slowly and gently.
What every wash includes
The price covers the whole process. There is nothing extra to pay for collection or drying.
- Free islandwide pickup and delivery
- A colour test before any water touches the rug, to check the colours won’t run
- Vacuuming, then a full soak and hand-wash with a gentle, wool-safe shampoo
- Rinsing with a traditional metal rake until the water runs clear
- Drying in the sun (or indoors with air blowers in bad weather) until fully dry
- A final check front and back before delivery
Repairs are quoted separately
Choose “Wash + repair” or “Repair only” in the calculator, and we’ll quote the repair once we’ve seen photos. We recommend washing before a repair, but we can do the repair only if you ask.
